Improve on Scheduled Waste Management and minimizes non-compliances that may result in compound being issued by DOE officers or affecting the business of specific customers.
Description
Audit is a systematic and pragmatic process in locating non-compliances. Although this is widely practiced in ISO 9001, it is rarely practiced in ISO 14001 and Scheduled Waste Management (SWM). This course attempt to adopt the audit program in SWM. An effective audit or inspection program is part of the EIMAS requirement for efficient Scheduled Wastes Management and is critically important in ensuring the scheduled wastes is managed in compliance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 and Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005.
However, due to the lack of knowledge and experience in handling the waste, workers who generates and handle waste, as well as industry environmental practitioners are not capable of handling the waste properly and in accordance with the Act and Regulations. In addition, this have also resulted in non-compliances during the DOE officers’ visit, ISO 14001 auditors’ audit and customers’ audit on the Scheduled Wastes Management.
This course is specially designed to enhance the knowledge of audit and inspection in the scheduled waste management in the premises. It includes being an auditee during the DOE officer’s audit and customers’ audit. Besides, the course will help to build up confidence in Competent Person (CePSWaM) and other members in conducting the internal audit prior to external audit. Also, it will enhance the capabilities of inspection teams to be auditors, and involve in identifying potential non-compliances.
