Optimized Scheduled Waste Management: Applying of Emergency Response Plan in Waste Management

This course will equip the participants with the knowledge of emergency preparedness and proper way to handle the fire and spillage that may occurs to the scheduled wastes stored at various areas. Without this, premises may run into the risk of non-compliance and worst off, partial of the premise is burnt.

Description

With plenty of scheduled wastes with different characteristics stored in various areas in a premise, there is always the risk of fire breakout and spillage occurs. A premise should have emergency response plan readily in-place in the event of emergency cases such as fire breakout and spillage. Without this, a premises will run into the risk of premise partially or completely gutted during a fire breakout, and major spillage that may result in environmental pollution.
Currently, it is observed that most premises are either not-prepared or partially prepared for such incidents. There may be no emergency response plan to deal with such unexpected incidents. The personnel may not be knowledgeable and trained to handle the emergency incidents.
This course is designed to ensure that participants are prepared and trained in handling an emergency situation in case fire does breakout. Fire-fighting team members knows what type of fire extinguisher is suitable for what kind of fire, how to use a fire extinguisher properly by using the P-A-S-S technique. Alternatively, when spillage happens, the spillage control team members know how to contain the spill by using a spill kit. How to dispose the resultant
scheduled waste properly and what scheduled waste code to use.

Course Objectives

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Comprehend the concepts of Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Comprehend fire that may occurs to certain types of scheduled wastes, and the technique in putting out the fire.
