Tuning Up Physical and Chemical Processes (PCP) in Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (IETS): Accomplishing Compliance Parameters
This 2-day course is designed for Industrial Wastewater Competent Persons, operators, managers, engineers, section heads, and anyone responsible for ensuring compliance with EQA 2009 and AKAS 1974.
Description
Every Competent Person (CePEITSO), whether in BP or PCP, must continuously equip themselves with best practices and in-depth knowledge to enhance their understanding of industrial wastewater treatment systems. Effective performance monitoring of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (IETS) is crucial to ensure compliance with legal requirements, particularly the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) 2009 and the Guidelines on Performance Monitoring of Industrial Effluent.
On Day 1, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the role of micro-organisms in treating industrial wastewater and achieving compliant discharge standards. The session will explore the strengths and limitations of biological treatment processes, providing practical insights into system optimization and troubleshooting.
On Day 2, participants will be exposed to the integration of physical and chemical treatment processes in line with DOE guidelines. The course will also introduce the latest technologies and upgrading methods to enhance system performance and regulatory compliance.
Air pollution control system (APCS) is essential to control particle or gases emission from the risk of air pollution in Malaysia. Some of the critical factors that are often missed out by operational staff during handling APCS are impurity concentration which will be related to cycle of concentration, air velocity and fugitive emission from production room.
This 2-days course discusses troubleshooting strategies which can be applied in practical way and planning the preventive action plan. The course will share some real case studies of how operational error and ducting velocity and suggest its counter solutions
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify design error or system failure and its possible counter solution
- Understand maintenance issues and implementation during design stage
- Identify the area of improvement in APCS
- Learn from real cases, study specific APCS issues and prepare action plan for future.
